How Much Does Mobile Dog Grooming Cost in Houston?
Updated July 22, 2026 · By the Royal Pawz USA team
Mobile dog grooming in Houston starts at $69 for a bath and runs to about $225 for a premium spa groom, depending on the package and your dog's size. A full groom with a haircut starts at $110. Specialty coats (like doodles and double coats) add a coat surcharge, and optional add-ons are priced separately. Unlike many salons, your card is only charged after the groom is complete.
What are the mobile dog grooming prices by package?
Royal Pawz has three packages — Royal Bath, Royal Groom, and Royal Spa — with base prices set by your dog's size.
| Package | Small | Medium | Large | XL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Bath (bath, nails, ears, glands) | $69 | $89 | $109 | $129 |
| Royal Groom (adds haircut, teeth, nail buffing) | $110 | $140 | $165 | $195 |
| Royal Spa (adds paw treatment, aromatherapy, massage) | $130 | $165 | $195 | $225 |
These are base prices for standard-coat breeds. Sizes are by weight — Small (up to 20 lbs), Medium (20–45 lbs), Large (45–95 lbs), and XL (95+ lbs). There is no separate "mobile fee" at the door within our service area; if you're just outside the main area, a small travel fee may apply and we confirm it before your appointment.
Do specialty coats or add-ons cost extra?
Yes — base prices cover standard coats; specialty coats add roughly $0–$50, and optional add-ons are priced separately and shown at checkout.
Doodles, double coats, and long or wire coats take 30–90 extra minutes of hand-brushing, specialty blades, and product to finish properly, so they carry a coat surcharge on top of the base price.
| Coat type | Surcharge | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Doodle / Poodle | +$10–$50 | Goldendoodles, Poodles, Bernedoodles |
| Double coat | +$5–$40 | Huskies, Aussies, Corgis |
| Long / silky | +$5–$35 | Spaniels, Afghan Hounds |
| Wire coat | +$0–$30 | Terriers, Schnauzers |
Optional add-ons are available on any package:
- Flea treatment: +$20
- De-shedding: +$30
- De-matting: from $15
- Shave down: from $20
- Skunk works (odor removal): +$100
Is mobile grooming more expensive than a salon?
Mobile grooming can cost a little more than a budget salon, but you're paying for one-on-one, at-home service with no cage time and no drop-off.
- Your dog is the only pet in the van — undivided attention from start to finish.
- No driving across Houston twice, and no hours spent waiting in a kennel.
- Less stress for anxious, senior, or reactive dogs who don't do well in a busy salon.
- Licensed, insured, background-checked groomers trained in fear-free handling.
For many Houston pet parents, the convenience and the calmer experience are worth the difference — especially for dogs that find traditional salons stressful.
Are there ways to lower the cost?
Yes — booking multiple dogs together and grooming on a regular schedule both help.
- Multi-pet discount: 20% off the second and each additional pet on the same visit.
- Regular grooming keeps coats from matting, which avoids the extra time (and cost) of heavy dematting.
- Choosing the package that matches your dog's coat — not every dog needs the full spa.
Frequently asked questions
When do I pay for mobile dog grooming?
Your card is only charged after the groom is complete and you're happy with the results. You add a card when you book, but nothing is charged until the appointment is finished.
Is a tip expected?
Tips are always appreciated but never required. You can add a tip after the groom if you'd like to recognize great work.
Do you charge a travel or mobile fee?
Within our standard Greater Houston service area there's no separate mobile fee. If you're just outside the main area, a small travel fee may apply and we'll confirm it before your appointment.
